Dear Global Business Enthusiast,

Michael Michelini (@michelini) here. You’re getting this email because you requested my periodic thoughts on international business from Hong Kong.

[Edit: Actually, it’s possible that you’ve never gotten an email from me. Somebody might have just given you the link to this page, which is an online archive of an email that I sent to folks who had asked for it. If you’d like to get articles like this in your inbox, totally free, about once a week or two, give me your email address.]

This week, HSBC HQ, UK or HK? Apple China here, Startups for HK’s future, and more!

Typing this up looking out into Nathan Road, love the hustle and bustle. It is motivating me to get off my butt and finish this week’s newsletter. So thanks for being here and reading 🙂

Where is HSBC’s headquarters going? I mentioned in a newsletter a while back that they were considering Hong Kong, but seems they are staying put in the UK. boo!

Apple Pay came out today in Mainland China. Going head to head with the big guys..wonder if they will keep up in the fierce battle between Tencent’s Wechat and Alibaba’s Alipay. Many don’t think so.

Episode 113! E-commerce veteran, Jeremy Hanks is back on the show. He was in Hong Kong for a couple days and we got to catch him for a podcast. He isn’t lecturing here, but he has some tips and warnings for those 100% dependent on Amazon for their sales.

Also in China Business Cast, Shlomo and I interview Thomas from Walk the Chat agency digging deep into Wechat marketing for your Chinese marketing success. It has a lot of good strategies so tune in!
