Mike Michelini and Lisa Yuson welcome back special guest Pete Miller, the returning Event Host MC and Speakers Coach for the Cross Border Summit (CBS) 2025. They discuss the seventh annual summit’s “Ignition” theme, new behind-the-scenes event technology, and the unique cultural experience of coinciding with Chiang Mai’s Loy Krathong festival.
Topics Covered in this Episode
Introducing the New GFAVIP Community Ecosystem
Attendees will enjoy a single digital ecosystem that combines their wallet, tickets, and all event information into one centralized app, eliminating the need for separate apps and paperwork.
Igniting the Community with Speaker and Attendee Bonuses
The new GFAVIP program includes a “bonus section” where speakers, experts, and even attendees can offer special deals or prizes to the community.
The 'Ignition' Theme is All About Shared Ideas
Ignition represents the spark of new ideas that emerge from being amongst your peers, your ‘tribe,’ in a giant, in-person mastermind setting, rather than working alone.
Interactive, Real-Time Q&A with Event Tech
New on-stage technology will allow attendees to submit questions and feedback through the system, enabling the MC and speakers to interact directly and instantly with the audience.
Forcing Connections with Speed Networking
The summit is designed to be more than a passive viewing experience, using structured activities like speed networking to “force people in together” to create long-lasting business and personal partnerships.
The Unbeatable Business-Lifestyle Balance of Chiang Mai
Pete Miller shared how moving to Chiang Mai significantly lowered his stress and improved his quality of life, emphasizing that Thailand offers a superior work-life balance that attracts the CBS community.
Embracing Thai Culture with the Loy Krathong Festival
The event’s timing coincides with Thailand’s beautiful Festival of Lights, a romantic and reflective lunar holiday where participants float baskets to show gratitude for the past year and light lanterns for future dreams and desires.
The Event Focuses on Experienced, Not Newbie Content
Cross Border Summit is curated for a higher-level audience; Mike confirms that the content is geared toward experienced sellers and entrepreneurs, making it a level-up event for seasoned professionals.

Show Transcript
(00:00) Episode 474 of Global from Asia. In this episode, we will talk about our upcoming Crossber Summit 2025 with the MC of the event, Peter Miller. Welcome to the Global from Asia podcast, where the daunting process of running an international business is broken down into straight up actionable advice. >> Hi everyone, and how is everyone doing today? We have a special treat about all the amazing things lined up in our 7th annual crossber summit.
(00:32) Can you believe this is number seven? Mike, >> isn’t it crazy how fast time flies? Four summits before co in China starting in 2016 and now this is the third in Thailand for a total of seven. The community has been through a ton and we are ready to ignite at this year’s. Our theme is ignition. Very cool, Mike.
(00:56) And now we have our guest for this show, Peter Miller, a speaker coach and also the MC of this year’s event. His third time with us. Yeah, Peter and I spent the afternoon together recently and recorded this session in the Garden of the Holiday Garden Hotel where we are hosting this year’s summit. We talk about some behindthe-scenes things for the event and I spill the beans on some of the new things coming. Let’s tune in.
(01:23) Before we get to the main discussion, a quick shout out to the Crossber Summit 2025 happening November 3rd to 5th in Thailand. This year’s event is packed with experts like Colin Raja covering crossber e-commerce strategies, networking. If you’re serious about global business, grab your tickets at crossbersummit.com. >> Hi everyone, Pete Miller here.
(01:44) I’m with Mike Molini and we are at the venue for CBS what’s known as the Crossber Summit 2025. >> Yeah, super excited. We’ve just had a pretty good marathon preparation. Every year we get better and better, right? That’s life. >> Yeah. But this year’s a little bit different because um we’ve introduced a kind of a an ecosystem, a digital ecosystem which will put all the the bonuses and all the information about CBS together in one app.
(02:14) you you won’t have to go to separate apps and you won’t have bits of paper everywhere. And this is this is pretty clever. Just tell us a little bit about it, Mike. >> Sure. Um I’ve been I’ve been actually one of the people making it. So it’s we call it a community ecosystem, GFA VIP, which is global from Asia VIP program.
(02:31) And you’re going to have a wallet. >> You actually going to be some surprises. There’s also going to be a bonus section like you mentioned at bonus.crossboardersummit.com crossbersummit.com where you can log in with that one login, >> your wallet login and then you can see all the different bonuses.
(02:46) We’ve already started it. >> So, we’re going to be onboarding the current people into this bonus and then >> Pete has one in here. He’s put a bonus in. We’re going to have other speakers, experts, >> uh maybe even some attendees that want to put in. >> So, if you’re an attendee and you want to offer a bonus to uh to to someone even to win a prize, you can do that.
(03:06) And so it’s it’s not just the speakers. Normally with a conference you you might have the speakers offer something special, but this time everybody can do this. And I’m offering a coaching session with me um communicate and you can sort of if you are a presenter on stage or you want to do some public speaking or you just want to be a better communicator, then you might win my prize. I’d love you to do that.
(03:28) >> It’s exciting. Yeah. We’re going to have a lot of fun. So it’s been super a lot of a lot of AI development and building for a couple of months. Yeah. So, all your tickets are there >> and it’s not just the ticket for CBS. There’s a lot of other tickets in involved as well. So, um you go, “Oh, wow. It’s all in one thing.
(03:46) ” It’s it’s really good through it. I took some notes from your feedback, too. So >> um and also during the conference on the uh the 4th and the 5th of November >> um during the speakers uh there will be a section where you can uh contribute and this will be done through through the same system and we want your questions and we want your feedback and and everything like that.
(04:10) So this gives us the speaker a really good idea of how uh they connected with you and also you can post your questions. So we don’t want to kind of like who’s got a question here and it’s really slow and it takes a lot of time. You can put your questions in and go hey oh an and she’s got a question right now and and so it’s much quicker like that. Yeah.
(04:29) >> Yeah. We’re we’re building it’s going to be a a lot a lot overwhelming amount of amazing uh information and we are going to have work as hard as we can to make sure you get all of this benefits but it will be beyond the summit. It’s just a it’s the theme is ignition. This is one way of igniting the >> well ignition for me is ideas.
(04:53) Um and the ideas that you get at CBS will be different from all the other ideas that you can come up with yourself. Even chatb um the ideas that you get in amongst your peers uh the people who get you, who understand you, who do the same as you, who have experiences in things that you want to know about those ideas can’t really come from you sitting in your office somewhere by yourself on a laptop.
(05:17) Um there is something that happens when groups of similar people your tribe they get together and they come up with something ideas. It’s like a giant mastermind. Yeah. >> Yeah. It’s it’s really cool. So shall we take a look around? >> Yeah. Let’s have a look. Let’s have a little walk around. >> We’re here in the garden. It’s at the holiday garden. Third year uh here.
(05:35) And uh it’s beautiful, right? See. Oh, >> Thailand do gardens really really well. >> Yeah, they’re great at these gardens. Uh, you know, I I’m have had other people question why I why I moved out of successful Sydney. I had a great career there as an MC and earning lots and lots of money, but I just found when I came here to Thailand that the lifestyle was just too good.
(06:01) So, I took a big cut in my pay so I could put lifestyle at the number one. And I really encourage people to come a few days earlier if they can to the conference and stay a few days afterwards because Thailand has a lot to offer. There’s it’s there’s a very good reason why Thailand is really one of the number one destinations in the world.
(06:19) It ticks a lot of boxes. >> It’s a it’s a lifestyle choice, you know, uh over the years doing it here, the speakers and the experts and uh attendees. It might not be I don’t want to say it’s not good for business but it might not be the number one checkbox if you make a full matrix for business but business and lifestyle balance Mai or Thailand comes really high.
(06:41) >> Mike I’ve added 20 years to the end of my life just by moving here. My stress levels were very high in Sydney and I was overweight and and all kinds of stuff. You know, I had I was go visiting the doctor quite regularly and I’m a pretty I consider myself a healthy person, but yeah, I had I had issues and it was just I I like to keep things in control and this is controllable here in Sydney.
(07:04) There was just too much government uh red tape and all sorts of things here. And I found I can manage things, manage my life so much better here. Um and if I want to take a day off and goof around, I can do it. you know, I don’t have to spend every like working from Monday to Wednesday just to pay my rent, you know. >> Mhm.
(07:24) I mean, I haven’t been even Australia, but I’ve heard it’s the pressure is high. >> Oh, work is really the big thing, you know, and and the status is a big thing in in Australia as well. And status just doesn’t worry people here. It’s, you know, you can turn up in an old motorbike with a whole clothes and no one’s going to think anything different.
(07:42) They they just they like you at face value here. Yeah, >> it’s refreshing. >> It is. It is. We have a networking event we’re going to after this and everything. >> Yeah. Oh, you got to turn up nice for the networking event. >> Actually, >> no. No elephant pants. >> What’s that? >> Elephant pants. >> No, you can wear elephant pants if you like. It doesn’t matter.
(08:02) That’s the really nice thing about Thai people. They they don’t judge you on on on what you look like. And that’s a really important. And Sydney is completely different. Sydney is trendy. >> Really really trendy. I’ve heard that. But so we have one of the things I noticed this is the third time I have MCED the CBS.
(08:20) So I’m I’m I’m looking forward to my family again because there’ll be pe a lot of people you know. Yeah. A lot of returning people but your team as well. >> But also it just it just feels as though there is a a real connection here. Um when people come to Thailand, they just have to relax a bit, you know, and their ideas flow a bit easier and that’s the part of Ignition theme, you know, the ideas will spark a little bit easier because we’re actually for the first time CBS.
(08:51) This is seventh CBS there is and the three the third third one in Thailand after co but >> the the the sparks that will or the ideas that will spark an idea here are going to be different from from everywhere else. Right. >> Agreed. Yeah. >> Yeah. It’s it’s an intense time and >> I we all get to level up. It’s also kind of nice.
(09:11) It’s towards the end of the year in November. >> So, you know, we’re preparing for the next year >> and and Lorrathong. >> Loang. Yeah. >> Which is a a beautiful Thai festival. There are two main Thai festivals besides all the Buddha days. There’s Sran which is in April which is world famous water fight. And then there’s Ly Kthong.
(09:31) And if you ever watch any Thai soap operas, as I do, I I learned my speak to Thai through that. Um they’ll always if there’s any kind of anything to do with romance they’ll have a loyong and they’ll always be in Chiang Mai because Chiang Mai is the romantic city for uh considered by Thai people because it’s got the beautiful Ping River and it’s got the canal the old canal system running running through the city and that’s where you’re going to um float your ly which is a banana tree vessel full of flowers and incense and candles and all your
(10:04) >> well you sort you know, 2025. You put it into the what sometimes you can build it, but we’ll have our own little laws. You know, we’ll we’ll all go together to the canal and we’ll float them down the the canal and say, “Thank thanks thanks 25. It’s been a good year.” >> Yeah. Goodbye. Goodbye. >> You put the gratitude into that and it’ll float down the river, right? >> Yeah. With our wishes for the new year.
(10:26) No, it’s they say I know neither of us are local Thai, but I think it represents like uh you know, like you said, gratitude, appreciation, and uh and and uh moving to a new stage. >> Yeah. Well, the ignition part of it um is the the lantern. Now, the lanterns, some people kind of think it’s it’s a bit dangerous, but and and it probably is, but I really like it.
(10:50) So after the lawyers floated down the river, then the next part is your dreams and hopes and desires for the next year, the next 12 months. And then um you’ll you’ll see the Thai people uh sort of wishing and and praying and they’ve thought about it before and they light the candle and often it’s two people and you stand the lantern and then it floats up into the sky and your dreams and desires go up to the gods. Right.
(11:13) >> Go up there. Oh, it’s pretty nice up there. >> The trees is really pretty here. Yeah. So, let’s have a let’s keep walking around a little bit. Yeah. >> Um >> all this portable gear now. Yeah, that’s a nice water. Oh, he’s going in there, >> right? So, um with the the speakers, this is it’s going to be a little bit different this year in the fact that we’ll we’ll be it’ll be interactive >> and we’ll have TVs um on on the on the side there.
(11:48) And uh we want you as if you’re an attendee to really interact with the speaker and and and really feel as though you’re part of the presentation. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Like it’s been a lot of uh like software. So it’s almost I’m kind of half of like share all the beans, spill all the beans, but we’re going to have ways that you can ask questions, connect with other attendees all like on on the stage.
(12:10) >> Right. Right. you know. >> So, so I’ll say, “Oh, look, um, Ann, she made that comment just then. Where’s Ann?” Oh, hi. You made that comment. I’m going to go and speak to her. >> Exactly. >> Yeah. Cool. Cool idea. >> So, we’re adjusting the C, you know, we’re adjusting it. It’s going to be um again, I back my mind’s like, how much do I want to spoil it before we do it? But, uh, >> we’ve made some pretty the >> spoiler coming up.
(12:35) >> Pretty big adjustments. Pretty big adjustments. And uh we’re using technology a lot more to engage people together because this people come here to connect with each other >> collaborate >> and we know that and we have great speakers coming from all over the world uh which we’ll be still sharing but we’re going to have it where it’s more even more interactive as you’re in this event.
(13:00) But your event is is special in the fact that people when they come here they’re not just sitting watching presenters as a normal conference you do this you’ve kind of in a way to for one of better words you’ve forced people in together there is a networking session where uh it’s called speed networking and you’ve only got how many minutes for five minutes I think we do five minutes five minutes to there’s two two and a half minutes each and the and the music’s going up d okay change over everybody and boy that’s uh that’s created some real longl lasting
(13:27) friendships which have turned into business partnerships. >> Exactly. There’s been uh over the years like you know it’s been just been number seven. There’s been weddings. I’ve been to the weddings. Oh wow. >> There’s been business partners. >> Oh wow. >> Um even people tell me now they they they have >> I’m going to try to see if we can code some platform but people are already looking for partners and investors coming.
(13:49) I’ve talked to that are coming >> cuz this is your tribe. I mean, and we’ve all got a tribe, which I think coming from the caveman era, that that’s we when we find that tribe, we need to stay with that tribe and we need to know that they’re going to offer security, support, help, understanding. We all want to be acknowledged.
(14:07) We want someone to get us go ah yeah, this and it feels good. And I know that there are attendees who come and this is the only conference they go to each year because this is the only one where where they feel as though they understood and they look forward to it. Right. >> Agreed. Yeah. I mean it’s it’s not it’s not a a huge amount of people either.
(14:26) I mean some people think that’s a feature and we we we like it. It’s it’s about 100 people total >> and uh >> and you get to talk to the speakers. Speakers like we did a speaker prep call one of them. We have a couple more. We’re prep prepping speakers >> and they’re there. They’re there for the conference.
(14:43) They’re they’re they’re there learning. They tell me they learn from the other speakers. Like it’s, >> you know, this is not oneonone content. I mean, sometimes some new people contact me to come and I almost tell them, >> uh, maybe it’s not right for you. It’s more for experienced. You’re welcome to apply and come if if you’re maybe new, but we we we’re not doing the new newbie content.
(15:04) We’re doing experienced uh experienced. >> I’m a seven figure seller myself, but >> mine’s got additional point in there. That’s all. Oh, it’s a >> MC joke there. >> You can do it in the cents, not dollars. That’s two extra decimals. >> That means I’m a five five figure. >> But anyway, look, um, we’re very excited about CBS with all the the new things happening.
(15:28) Of course, obviously AI and that’s kind of changed the game a lot. Um, the environment in the last 12 months has been woo, let’s take a walk. Let’s It’s been >> Well, actually, we’re going to get some There might be some tacos. You know the joke about taco? Uh-huh. >> I don’t know. Trump always chickens out. >> Yeah.
(15:46) He’s messed up my life a few times. Even recently, like literally like this weekend, he just makes some kind of so social post and he’s saying like tariffs going to be like 100%. And then he’s like, “Oh, I didn’t I was just joking.” >> Tacos. Tacos. >> Yeah, tacos. It’s I think Wall Street. >> My oneliner is that I came to Chiang Mai for Wi-Fi. I ended up with a wifey.
(16:06) >> There you go. I just recently got married >> recently. Yeah, like last year you you weren’t married. So now you’re >> Yeah, I have. >> You went to Nepal and you had like a >> I did I had a bit of an epiphany in Nepal on the mountain top 5,000 5,000 meters above and I think I just I just want her, you know.
(16:26) Um anyway, I’ll tell you more about that. >> Yeah, that’ll be on, you know, get some insights there. Ask me about and we’re going to have a little more Tai style because of Loy Cret there’s going to be a bit more. Again, I I’m I I’ve watched some surprises, so we’re, you know, but there’s lots of surprises, >> but we’re have a little bit more Thai Thai uh style in the event this year.
(16:44) >> Yeah. >> Um it’s the Ly Cret edition. >> So, I’ve already >> It’s always going to be November 4th and 5th is the plan because it’s after Canton Fair, just after kind of almost a little bit overlap of phase three of Canton Fair in China. So people are coming from China and uh it’s because the loyer tongue is not on the same it’s not on a solar calendar right >> cut it down >> got a plane up can we get the plane there’s a plane overhead there oh I got it I got it >> all right this is Ching Mai the plane >> we’re close to the airport and a lot of
(17:28) people love it, but they there’s not a big journey to the airport. It’s only kind of >> That is a cool That’s true. You can just wake up and just go there. >> Yeah, you can go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Great. So, yeah. So, I think in three more years it’ll be Lyer Tong CBS, but 26 27 won’t be overlap with Lyer Tong.
(17:47) >> Yeah. >> Uh those will be later in November, >> but it’s usually in uh >> mid to late November normally. >> Yeah. And there’s always workshops the day after as well. If you want more, >> if your brain is not completely full and and you want there are two workshops run by Colin and and K. >> Um and they’re kind of deep dive.
(18:09) Colin’s workshop is 6 hours I think. >> Five hours. Yeah. One to six. >> Cans is two hours in the morning the next day which is the >> November 6th. Yeah. >> Right after Lucer after party. And if you win my bonus, then anytime you like if if you’re in if you’re in Mai, then I’m happy to do a one-on-one live.
(18:30) Or if you’re somewhere else in the world, then we’ll do a one-on-one coaching. >> And I have a special bonus as well that will be in your swag pack that you’ll get. I won’t tell you what that is. That’s lots of secrets. >> Yeah. So, um, looking forward to seeing you here >> um on the 4th and 5th of November, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
(18:53) uh ignite ignition technition igniting your business igniting ideas igniting the Lyong igniting uh the community the technology the AI we’re we’re on the launch pad >> we’re on the launch pad yeah >> this is the launch pad seriously there’s um >> amazing things >> you can mastermind your way and I I found that masterminds are really something very very special if you get together in a group in a in a room with a group of people who understand you there’s Just nothing like it, is there? >> It’s really powerful.
(19:23) >> Really powerful. >> I mean, um the inspiration and just uh the motivation and just seeing other people like you. >> Yeah. >> Uh making things happen. >> I’m got me. I’m all hyped. I can’t wait. It’s just a couple weeks away now. So, >> um still a few spots left, but mostly mostly full >> and uh we’d love to have some people there. Good.
(19:44) We of course there’s a lot of returning people. We will love some new uh new blood and uh it’s going to be a great time. So, just remember GFA Global from Asia, that’s VI gfa vip.com. That is your destination and that’ll have everything to do with the conference including the bonuses, including your tickets, including everything you need to know in one destination.
(20:06) And also, that’s where you’ll be uh well, there’s a QR code and you can interact during the conference from that from that app. Yeah, >> there’ll be some Yeah, for attendees only. There’ll be some QR codes to engage with the uh event each session. >> Yeah. >> Uh it’s it’s uh it’s the first time for us too, but it’s going to be a unique way for each speaking session to engage with that speaker.
(20:29) >> Right. Right. >> All right. >> Awesome. >> Okay. Cheers. >> All right. See you all there. >> So the the traditional way of of Mai, we’ll get you doing this is to is called a Y W AI. And so you say sal only have one hand here. >> All right. >> That looked like a lot of fun. Mike, you and Peter are having an afternoon in the garden.
(20:52) >> Yes, definitely. Lisa, we actually spent a half day together. I was showing him all the new upgrades we have this year in software and in format. Then we went to some networking events and had a blast. >> Seems like you and the team have been preparing a lot this year for the summit.
(21:09) Yeah, it’s always been a six plus month process of planning and this year even more. It is also like the theme ignition. We have a lot of new software and processes in place and want to make sure it is as ready as possible for everyone. >> Sounds super exciting. People can check out crossbersummit.com and find the 2025 event there. Right.
