[00:00:00] Episode 340 of Global from Asia, first show of 2021. It’s just me on the microphone. Little old me. It has been a while since I’ve been, just me, a quick show, just getting into the new year and giving you some insights of what’s happening and what’s the plans for, for the show and for, for everything. So I hope you will stick with us.

[00:00:25] Let’s do this. Welcome to the Global from Asia podcast where the daunting process of running an international business is broken down into straight up actionable advice. And now your host, Michael Michelini. Thank you so much for choosing to download and listen to or stream or watch the Global From Asia podcast.

[00:00:48] We are in 2021. I’m recording this in my temporary living compound here in Shenyang, China. Tomorrow is new year’s day and tomorrow I’m getting my third Coronavirus test. And what a year it has been I’m sure, for all of you, ourselves here at Global from Asia, for sure. There’s been turnover in the team and businesses we’ve gone,

[00:01:15] Sold companies started companies, stopped companies, started new companies, lots happening. I just thought it would be, we actually have a good interview coming up. But I thought I would push Peter’s show to next week. And just, just a little old me talking about some things and giving you some insights of what is in store for next year.

[00:01:36] So, the first one is, I’ll say it right away. We’re going to do only two per month. All right. Two shows per month. We’re going for the less is more here. We’ve been doing weekly for quite a while. We have done every other week for a little bit in the past, and we’ve actually stopped the show for a little bit in the past.

[00:01:53] I just feel we want to focus on quality. We’re, we’re, we’re really cranking these out. I think with everybody locked down, there’s not as many people, maybe tuning in and we also want to focus on our mastermind. And so the idea after some discussions is this show, the free podcast will be going online on the second and fourth.

[00:02:20] Week of each month. So this is the first one, first week. That’s why it’s just me, but the interviews and things, we’ll be on the second and fourth. And that way we can also focus on our, our masterminds. We’re building up some great groups and we’re going to put all our force into the membership, GFAVIP membership masterminds on the first and the third, Tuesday of every week.

[00:02:48] So, It’s also just because we feel we’re just putting out a lot of content and we want to kind of slow things down and focus on quality. We have actually like three or four guests already ready to go. One already recorded, a couple more next week. But I just really think it’s better, I’d rather slow down the interviews and really just make sure each one is really, really impactful,

[00:03:13] Really, really, insightful. And we’re focusing and it’s really hard also with doing our membership things and our, our free content. So we’re still gonna do these shows because honestly, I love to do it. Even it costs lots of money every month, for our team and everything we’re doing, but I want to keep doing it.

[00:03:35] I’m also open to more feedback from people in the community. If people are interested to get involved, we’re open to that, but that’s the big one. And then, you know, Cross Border Summit people haven’t asked about it. Of course COVID lockdown seems like it’s going into the new year. We’re getting locked down here in Shenyang.

[00:03:52] Again, like I said, the whole community is getting COVID test tomorrow on new year’s day. We’re all gonna go to some kind of facility to get tested and they closed off the whole city. You can’t go in and out right now. Basically the story is somebody, some woman, older woman came in, Chinese woman came back from

[00:04:13] I don’t know if it’s Korea or Japan. And she brought a new strand of the virus in, and then she caught her daughter sick and her husband’s sick and her neighbor’s sick. And then they freaked out and just locked everything down, malls. You need to scan the wechat QR to go in and now they’re just locking down all more stuff.

[00:04:32] So it feels like we might be getting locked down even more here in at least in this area, part of China, I guess, is depending on which province or city, but here in Shenyang it’s getting locked down again. So probably can’t really plan a Cross Border summit like I said, in other shows, it takes about, you know, six months of planning is a lot of work and it’s a big risk.

[00:04:55] You know, we have to get a venue locked in. We try to get all these speakers and flights and hotels and venues. And so I don’t, I don’t know. I don’t want to discourage you, but we’re definitely not going to pick a date for this year yet, but it looks like it might be a 2022 thing to be very honest with you, but

[00:05:13] we’ve already talked to a lot of people in the community. It’s probably gonna be bigger and better than ever, and we’re going to plan for it to make it bigger and better than ever. But crossborder summit.com is still there in live. But yeah, of course, I think we’re going to take another year off. It would have been our fifth annual last year, but we’re gonna have, you know, we’re not gonna do it online.

[00:05:30] We decided there’s enough. There’s like I said, we’re slowing down even the podcast cause there’s just too much online content right now. Everybody’s really just pushing content. We rather focus on quality here with our podcast and you know, honestly, I think some of our guests here are really amazing sharing knowledge and we get a lot out of that already.

[00:05:50] So, so those are some of the other updates we’re launching a new Amazon brand. Literally we got the seller central account approved, bank at mercury.com, our sponsors actually, we’re going to have him on as a guest on the show talking about that, man. That’s my daughter screaming in the background. Maggie, you want to come on the show?

[00:06:13] Anyway, we’re all here together. And you know, in these close compounds, I just want to give you a quick update. I was going to skip this week because you know, we’re going on every other week. Hey, Maggie, you want to come on the podcast, you can come in here. But you know, I hope you have a great year.

[00:06:33] We’re really going to be doing some amazing content, amazing masterminds again. If you really want to get into the inside of what we’re doing here, where, you know, it does look like, you know, we’re going more and more paid and we’re more and more quality, but we’re going to still keep these totally free shows.

[00:06:48] I want to give education and experience to people all around the world. That’s really part of my mission in life to give out free knowledge and free help. But I just want to make sure the quality stays there and also the impactfulness. And I just feel like there’s so much content out there already that we have to just double down and make it even better.

[00:07:06] So. Stay tuned. I’m always open to your feedback. You can send a note to me, it’ll get to my team, at Mike@globalfromasia.com. We’re monitoring that regularly and we have our, you know, our membership and  our crossbordersummit. Amazon brand, we just really launching 15 SKUs and launching, which is going to be intense and some new things in blockchain with domains and handshake, you know, or working with some smaller investments, you know, working with some select people in their business.

[00:07:40] So I’m just really excited for the new year. I think everybody is doubling down on online and e-commerce, and there’s a huge opportunity for everyone here. But I would say, try to find your angle, your strength, where you’re based, what your knowledge, your network, your community, and, and take that to the next level in this new year.

[00:07:58] It’s, it’s, it’s a, it’s a new life. I think it’s going to just change for the longterm. I mean, Just there’s so much opportunity and so much to do. So I do wish you all the best, and I really appreciate you tuning into this show. And I think that’s really all I want to share. My daughter’s not coming in and she screamed in the other room.

[00:08:16] We’ve got paper thin walls, you know, we’re in this like, I couldn’t stand living in my aunts and uncles’ house and parents-in-law, you know? So luckily we got this apartment, we have our car in Thailand and, you know, huge amount of stuff, storage there, and some other stuff in the Philippines, Shenzhen, a little bit Hong Kong, but we’re here in Shenyang.

[00:08:34] I’m freezing and getting COVID test tomorrow. But we all got to stay strong in this year. You know, it seems like it’s going to be more than a 2020 thing to me. The new normal, and I think unfortunately, cross border businesses and it keeps getting harder not easier when I started this show, I honestly, I thought it was going to be like everybody traveling around the world, starting up businesses anywhere.

[00:08:57] But I feel like now it’s getting harder than ever, but I guess that gives opportunity because if you know how to do it, maybe from listening to the show for a long time, take an action. You have an advantage now. So I do wish everybody the best. Thanks again for choosing to listen to this show. And I will see you in next week’s show with Peter Luxembourg, amazing story about his Amazon startup business and he sold and what he’s doing now in Europe and amazing thing.

[00:09:23] So we’re working on these amazing guests and I really appreciate everybody for contributing. I really missed the Cross Border Summit. It was my favorite highlight onmy birthday too. In April, but that’s actually what had Cross Border Summit in April? Cause it was my birthday, but I think we’re gonna switch back to April, probably April 22.

[00:09:40] If you had to ask me right now, but right now I can’t pick a date. So thanks again. See you next year or next week or already be next year. Right now it’s 12/31, December 31st is the record is. See you in 2021. Let’s rock this. Bye-bye. To get more info about running an international business.
